Pune, 8th May 2023: Monthly pass holders always have disputes over seats in railways or local trains. There have also been incidents of physical fights between passengers. Many also quarrel with ticket collectors (TCs) along with fellow passengers. As a solution to this, the railway administration has decided to provide body cameras to the ticket checkers in local and express MST coaches.

Due to these cameras, it will be easy to film the passengers arguing and quarreling for no reason, and through this, action will be taken against such passengers.

At present, 50 cameras have been given to the TCs in Mumbai, in the background of which body cameras will also be given to the TCs in Pune, said a senior official of the Commerce Department of Central Railway. These cameras are going to be placed near the collar (shoulder) of the shirt.

In the past few months, there have been incidents of fights between old pass holders and new pass holders in local and express trains running between Pune and Mumbai. At this time, it is not clear whose side is right, hence, the filming on such occasions can be considered as important evidence. Along with this, if an incident happens on the train or at the railway station, it can also be filmed.

The cameras provided to the TCs are 12 megapixels and can work continuously for 30 hours. There are 41 local trains daily between Pune to Lonavla and Shivajinagar to Lonavla. For this, 16 TCs work in different sessions. Earlier, RPF was also provided with such body cameras.
