Mumbai, 9th August 2025: The Bombay High Court has put a stay on the process of road widening in the Wakad and Hinjawadi areas. This decision is in effect until 21st August.

The High Court noted that the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) did not give any prior notice to the petitioners regarding the road widening. Accordingly, no work is to be carried out, ordered the High Court.

A petition was filed by Vilas Sakhare, who owns land in Survey No. 146, which falls under the limits of Hinjawadi Gram Panchayat. Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Neela Gokhale heard the matter, and their bench announced the stay. They expressed concerns about significant losses to the petitioners due to the proposed road widening.

They also said that the PMRDA is carrying out this action without following rules and regulations. The High Court has ordered the PMRDA and other administrative departments to submit the relevant documents and an affidavit by 21st August.
