Bopodi, 7th June 2025: In a welcome move for devotees residing in Pune’s northern suburbs, the rest stop (visava) of the revered Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palanquin procession at Bopodi has been extended by 25 minutes. This decision was taken by the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan following a formal request by former Deputy Mayor Sunita Wadekar, aimed at providing more time for devotees to offer their prayers and seek blessings.

Previously, the halt at Bopodi was brief, leaving many devotees—especially from localities like Khadki, Aundh, Baner, Range Hills, and Bopodi—without adequate time to witness the palanquin and participate in the spiritual experience. Recognizing the emotional disappointment and logistical challenges faced by the devotees, Wadekar appealed directly to Sansthan President Jaalindar Maharaj More to extend the halt duration.

Responding positively, More Maharaj assured that the stop would be extended by 25 minutes, a decision that has been warmly welcomed by the local community. The extension will enable thousands of devotees from key city entry points to participate in the historic and spiritual moment with greater peace and devotion.

In appreciation of her efforts, Sunita Wadekar was felicitated by the Sansthan for her continued support to the devotees’ cause. The felicitation ceremony was attended by leaders of the Republican Party of India, including Parshuram Wadekar, Avinash Kadam, and Adv Dnyanesh Javeer.
