Pune-Born Woman Stabbed To Death During Robbery In London
London/Pune, 14th May 2024: A beloved grandmother, remembered for her unwavering devotion to family, lost her life near a bus stop in Edgware, north London. Pune-born Anita Mukhey, 66, a dedicated medical secretary in the NHS, was fatally stabbed on Thursday morning. Jalal Debella, 22, hailing from Colindale, has been charged with her murder.
In a statement conveyed through the Metropolitan Police, her grieving family described her as a married mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her loved ones. “The family asks for privacy at this difficult time,” the statement implored.
Debella was presented beforeeat Willesden Magistrates’ Court, refraining from entering a plea. He is scheduled to appear before the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
The tragic incident unfolded on Thursday at Burnt Oak Broadway around 11:50 BST, prompting a swift response from authorities. Despite efforts to treat her knife wounds, Mukhey succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Disturbing footage of the incident circulated on social media platforms, prompting the Metropolitan Police to issue a plea urging the public to refrain from sharing such distressing content. “A small number of social media users have posted graphic footage of the attack. It is enormously distressing for grieving families. We ask that these posts be deleted and others not to share them,” a police spokesman stated.
Emphasizing that the attack was an “isolated incident,” the Met Police assured that no further suspects were being sought.
