Pune: Boy Issued Driving Learner’s Licence Online With Girl’s Photo

Pune, 14th June 2021: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has launched a scheme to issue driving learners licences online. However, on the first day, a boy who had applied for a learners’ licence, received the licence that had a photograph of a woman.

The initiative to issue a learners’ licence online was launched in the State on Monday. Therefore, Ashish Chede from Pune logged in around 11 am on Monday for the same. He had uploaded the scanned copy of his Aadhaar Card and PAN Card on the Parivahan Sewa website. He paid Rs 365 for the test and appeared for it. He found out that he had scored 9 out of 15 on the test.

He then immediately received a learners’ licence on the website. The details mentioned on the driving learners’ licence were correct, however, had a photograph of a girl. He contacted the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) in this regard.

Ched, a first-year interior designing student, said, “The scheme, which offers learners’ licences online, is very good. There was no problem with the website. However, my photo did not appear on the licence. It had a woman’s photograph. So, I had to rush to get the photo changed.”

An RTO officer said, “Parivahan website is technically accurate. However, there may have been some confusion at the time of the registration of the Aadhaar Card. Only those candidates whose Aadhaar Cards are linked to their mobile numbers can get the learners’ licence online. Ashish will be directly given a licence with the necessary changes.”
