Pune, 14th June 2021: The first two-wheeler in Maharashtra state was registered in Pune in the project of giving a vehicle number to the customer by the dealer. From now on, the vehicle dealer will give the registration number of the vehicle to the customer. The scheme was launched in the state on Monday.

A customer named Ramesh Vaswani had picked up a vehicle from BU Bhandari Sadhu Vaswani Chowk in Pune on Monday. The bike was immediately given the number MH12TJ7818. Regional Transport Officer Ajit Shinde was present on the occasion.

“Dealer Point New Registration method is very useful. As a result, the paperwork has been reduced and the customers are happy. Today, we have three vehicles registered in this manner”, said BU Bhandari’s general manager Umesh Borade.

Another customer, Aishwarya Bhange from Pune, purchased a four-wheeler from Shaw Toyota Pune and became the first person to get the four-wheeler with the vehicle number MH12TK0465. “I had purchased an Urban Cruiser car for myself. Showroom people had called me before for the registration, but I wasn’t aware of it. So, when I visited the showroom for the delivery of the car, the RTO officers were present, they performed all the procedures and congratulated me. I am a salaried person and had bought it by own. The process of registration is easy and you don’t have to wait for long for the vehicle number even after buying it,” Aishwarya said.

“In this scheme, once the customer registers for the vehicle, his Aadhaar card, permanent account number (PAN) and related documents are taken. These documents are uploaded on the transport website, and then the customer receives OTP. The distributor then pays the tax. After this, the distributor gets the registration number and hands over the number plate to the customer”, informed RTO Shinde.

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had earlier raised the issue. However, a decision was made recently about the scheme. Transport Commissioner Avinash Dhakne recently sent an order in this regard to Pune RTO. Accordingly, the scheme was launched in the state.

The vehicle dealer will use a digital signature when registering. Vehicles or documents no longer need to be submitted to the RTO office for registration. This will save time and cost for distributors and citizens. When registering a new vehicle, the distributor has to upload Form 20, Form 21, Form 22, disclaimer of vehicle and photo of chassis number, photo of the vehicle, PAN card, etc. For this, an e-signature has to be used and then the concerned RTO will approve it.

“Registering a new vehicle by a dealer will save customer’s time. The vehicle dealer will also provide high-security number plates. The vehicle distributor will be responsible for the registration of documents”, Shinde added.
