Pune: Bride Runs Away Before ‘Haldi’ Ceremony, Groom’s Father Files Cheating Case

Lohegaon, 2nd May 2022: A 63-year-old man has filed a cheating case with Pune city police after his would-be daughter-in-law ran away a day before the ‘Haldi’ ceremony.

Based on a complaint from the man from Dighi, the Vimantal police station has registered the case against the girl from Lohegaon, her parents and her brother.

According to police, the ‘supari’ ceremony was done two months ago and the marriage date was fixed for May 1. The complainant spent Rs 80,000 for the wedding, Rs seven thousand for the wedding invitation card, and Rs 75,000 for the wedding ceremony.

The Haldi program was to be held on 29th April. For this, all the relatives of the groom had gathered. However, the day before, on April 28, the bride ran away. Her parents contacted the police station and reported her missing. Due to this, the Haldi program on 29th April along with the upcoming wedding program had to be cancelled.

The groom’s father registered an FIR with police alleging he was cheated and his reputation was tarnished.
