Pune: Broad Daylight Murder on Pune’s Bajirao Road Raises Law and Order Concerns
Bajiroa Road, 4th November 2025: A chilling daylight murder on Bajirao Road, one of Pune’s busiest areas, has once again raised serious questions about the city’s law and order situation. The incident comes just two days after another murder in Kondhwa, further intensifying public concern over the growing crime rate in the city.
According to initial police information, Mayank Kharade, a resident of Ambil Odha, was brutally killed on Tuesday afternoon after being attacked with a sharp weapon by unidentified assailants. The assault occurred in the crowded heart of the city, shocking onlookers and sparking panic in the area.
Police teams from Vishrambaug Division reached the scene immediately after receiving the alert and began a search operation to trace the attackers. Preliminary reports suggest that the murder stemmed from a personal dispute between Kharade and the accused.
Over the past few days, Pune has witnessed a spate of violent crimes. Earlier this week, Ganesh Kale was shot dead in broad daylight in Kondhwa, and now, the Bajirao Road incident has further rattled citizens, who are questioning the effectiveness of policing in central Pune.
Speaking about the case, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Zone 1, Krushikesh Rawale said, “The murder appears to be the result of a previous quarrel between the youths. We have initiated a detailed investigation and are in the process of registering a formal complaint. Police teams have been deployed to nab the accused. At this stage, it does not appear to be a case of gang rivalry, but rather a fallout of a minor dispute.”
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby shops and traffic cameras to identify the attackers. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway.
