Maharashtra State Election Commission Announces Civic Poll Schedule; Voting on December 2

Mumbai, 4th November 2025: After months of anticipation among voters across Maharashtra, the State Election Commission (SEC) has finally announced the long-awaited civic election schedule. The announcement was made during a press conference held earlier today.

According to the SEC, the first phase will cover elections for Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats across the state, while the second phase—covering Zilla Parishads and Municipal Corporations—will be announced later.

As per the official schedule, voting will be held on December 2, followed by vote counting on December 3, and final results will be declared on December 10, 2025. The SEC has also released a district-wise list of all councils and panchayats going to polls.

Elections Across 246 Municipal Councils and 42 Nagar Panchayats

Elections will be held for 246 Municipal Councils and 42 Nagar Panchayats, covering a total of 6,859 council seats and 288 council president posts.

This year includes elections for 10 newly formed Municipal Councils. While the tenure of 236 councils has ended, 27 Nagar Panchayats have completed their term, and 15 new Nagar Panchayats have been added to the electoral map.

Women’s Reserved Seats: 3,492

Scheduled Castes (SC): 895

Scheduled Tribes (ST): 338

Voter Strength and Polling Arrangements

The civic polls will involve a total of 1,07,03,576 registered voters, comprising:

Male voters: 53,79,931

Female voters: 53,22,870

Others: 775

To facilitate smooth polling, 13,355 polling stations will be set up across the state. The SEC confirmed adequate availability of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), including 13,726 control units and 27,452 ballot units.

Spending Limits for Candidates Increased
The State Election Commission has revised expenditure limits for candidates:
Class A Municipal Councils: ₹15 lakh for President, ₹5 lakh for Member
Class B Municipal Councils: ₹11.25 lakh for President, ₹3.5 lakh for Member
Class C Municipal Councils: ₹7.5 lakh for President, ₹2.5 lakh for Member
Nagar Panchayats: ₹6 lakh for President, ₹2.25 lakh for Member

Mobile App and Website for Voter Assistance
To assist voters, the SEC has launched a dedicated website and mobile application. Through these platforms, voters can search their names in the electoral roll, locate polling stations, and access information about candidates, including their affidavits, educational qualifications, financial disclosures, and criminal background (if any).
