Pune: BRT Route Being Dismantled On Nagar Road To Ease Traffic
Yerwada, 24th June 2023: The removal process of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route, stretching from Yerwada (Gunjan Chowk) to Vimannagar Phoenix Mall on Pune-Ahmednagar Road, has commenced as of Saturday morning.
Due to ongoing metro construction, all BRT routes were temporarily closed, leading to the decision to conduct an experimental removal of this particular route.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Vikas Dhakne shared that this decision was reached following discussions between the Divisional Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, and Pune Traffic Police.
“I believe a part of the BRTS is being removed for the G20 event from Yerwada to Hyatt. Why not extend it fully up to Wagholi? This will confuse and increase the risk of accidents. Why prioritize the G20 over the demands of Pune’s citizens, who have been requesting this for so many years? This is hypocrisy,” said activist Qaneez Sukhrani.
