Beware: Pune Woman Cheated Of Rs 8 Lakhs In Credit Card Fraud By Cyber Criminal
Pune, 24th June 2023: A distressing incident has emerged where a young woman fell victim to a scam, losing eight lakh rupees after being enticed with the promise of an increased credit card transaction limit. Investigations have revealed that the perpetrator obtained an online loan from a bank in the victim’s name.
The aggrieved woman has lodged a formal complaint at Bharti University Police Station, Pune. The fraudster initially contacted her through a phone call, posing as a representative from a private bank. Under false pretences of raising the credit card limit, the impostor deceitfully obtained the victim’s PAN card and bank account details.
Exploiting this information, the scammer proceeded to secure an online loan of eight lakhs, transferring the funds into their own bank account. Upon discovering the fraudulent activity, the victim promptly reported the incident to the police. The crime branch, led by a police inspector, has initiated an investigation into the matter.
