Pune: Burglars Break Open Two ATMs, Loot Rs 14.19 Lakh in Baramati
Baramati, 30th July 2026: Burglars broke open two ATM machines at a Bank of India ATM centre in Pandare village of Baramati taluka and stole Rs 14.19 lakh in cash during the early hours of Wednesday, triggering panic in the area.
A case of theft has been registered against unidentified persons at Malegaon Police Station based on a complaint filed by Tushar Liladhar Patil, manager of the Bank of India, Pandare branch.
According to police, the accused broke into a Petro Company ATM and stole Rs 11.92 lakh, including currency notes of Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 500 denominations. They also forced open a Hitachi ATM installed at the same centre and made away with another Rs 2.26 lakh, taking the total stolen amount to Rs 14,19,100. The thieves also damaged both the ATM and the cash deposit machine (CDM).
Preliminary investigation revealed that the burglars entered the ATM centre at around 4 am and first sprayed paint on the CCTV cameras to disable surveillance. However, they were captured by another camera installed inside the ATM machine. Police suspect that three to four persons were involved in the burglary.
Investigators have also found that the same gang allegedly targeted an ATM centre in Khandala, Satara district, before carrying out the theft in Baramati.
Police Inspector Kuldeep Sankpal of Malegaon Police Station, along with the Local Crime Branch team, visited the spot. Forensic experts have been called in to collect fingerprints and other evidence as the investigation continues.
