Pune: Traffic Curbs, PMPML Bus Diversions Announced for Annabhau Sathe Jayanti for August 1

Pune, 30th July 2026: Pune Traffic Police has announced special traffic arrangements in the Jedhe Chowk–Sarasbaug area on Saturday, August 1, in view of processions and floral tribute programmes being organised by various social organisations and political parties to mark the birth anniversary of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr Sandeep Bhajibhakare, the diversions will be implemented from 2 pm onwards, depending on traffic conditions. Except for emergency service vehicles, several roads will remain closed and motorists have been advised to use alternate routes.

Traffic from Jedhe Chowk towards Sarasbaug will be closed. Vehicles heading towards Sinhagad Road should take the route via Satara Road–Dhole Chowk–Mitra Mandal Chowk–Savarkar Chowk. Vehicles travelling from Sinhagad Road towards Swargate should use Dandekar Bridge–Nath Pai Chowk–N.C. Phadke Chowk–Puram Chowk–Tilak Road–Jedhe Chowk.

Entry from the Y-junction flyover at Jedhe Chowk towards Sarasbaug will also remain closed. Motorists coming from Katraj have been advised to turn left at Laxminarayan (Dhole Chowk) instead of proceeding towards Shreeji Junction.

The grade separator between Vega Centre and Sarasbaug will remain closed, with traffic diverted via Parvati Pump–Udyan–Rashtrabhushan Chowk. Traffic from Savarkar Chowk to Puram Chowk will also remain closed and diverted through Dandekar Bridge–Nath Pai Chowk–N.C. Phadke Chowk–Kalpana Hotel–Tilak Road.

Similarly, traffic from Dandekar Bridge/Sinhagad Junction towards Savarkar Chowk will be closed and diverted through the same alternate route.

Traffic police said restrictions on Puram Chowk to Jedhe Chowk and Dandekar Bridge to Savarkar Chowk may be relaxed temporarily depending on congestion between 3 pm and 4 pm. Vehicles approaching Savarkar Chowk via Neelayam Bridge, traffic on Shivaji Road, and vehicles from Seven Loves Chowk towards Jedhe Chowk may also be diverted if required.

The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has also announced temporary changes to several bus routes. If roads near Sarasbaug and Jedhe Chowk are closed, buses will be diverted via Laxminarayan Talkies and Mitra Mandal Chowk. The changes will affect routes including 2, 2A, 2B, 3, 4, 11, 13, 15, 21, 26, 41, 42, 50, 64, 70, 97, 101, 111, 117, 216, 226, 297, 339 and 354**, among others. If the road near the Natraj bus stand at Swargate is closed, buses originating from there will operate from Khandoba Temple at Parvati foothills until normal traffic resumes.

The traffic branch has requested followers arriving from Satara Road via Mitra Mandal Chowk towards Savarkar Chowk to park their two-wheelers at Patil Plaza. Police have advised motorists to follow traffic personnel’s instructions and use alternate routes, noting that further changes may be made depending on the traffic situation.
