Pune: Businessman Assaults And Fires Pistol Over Delayed Pizza Delivery In Wagholi
Wagholi, 25th October 2023: In a shocking incident that took place at Ozone Villas Society on Lohegaon Road, a Zomato delivery boy was assaulted and a firearm discharged in a late-night dispute over a pizza delivery.
Chetan Vasant Padwal, a 27-year-old businessman residing in Ozone Villas Society, has been arrested and charged with attempted culpable homicide.
The incident occurred on Monday night at approximately 10:30 p.m. when Padwal placed an order for Domino’s Pizza through the Zomato app. Rahul Ghorpade, the delivery boy from Domino’s Pizza, arrived at Padwal’s residence, accompanied by his colleague Rishikesh Annapurne, around 11:00 PM. The situation escalated when Padwal opened the door and verbally abused the delivery personnel, expressing dissatisfaction with the delayed pizza delivery. Annapurne was physically assaulted by Padwal during the altercation.
The complainant, an associate manager, upon learning of the incident, approached Padwal to seek clarification. In response, Padwal aggressively confronted him, grabbing his collar and questioning his presence. Subsequently, Padwal retrieved a pistol from his car parked in front of the house, loaded it, and discharged a single round into the air.
The Lonikand Police Station has registered a case against Chetan Vasant Padwal for attempted culpable homicide. Padwal, whose father is involved in a crusher business, has been taken into custody pending further investigation.
Sub-Inspector of Police Suraj Gore is conducting further investigation.
