Businessman Ends Life at Pune Lodge; Female Lawyer Booked for Abetment

Pune, 18th January 2025: A businessman reportedly took his own life at a lodge near Pune station, allegedly due to an immoral relationship. Following the incident, Bundgarden police have registered a case against a female lawyer on charges of abetting the suicide, based on a complaint filed by the businessman’s wife.

According to the police, the businessman committed suicide by hanging himself on January 9. The female lawyer, who is married to a judge, was present at the lodge when the incident occurred. As per the complaint, the lawyer and the businessman initially met for professional reasons but later developed a personal relationship.

The complaint alleges that the lawyer harassed the businessman by pressuring him to leave his wife and child to be with her. It also states that she went as far as threatening to arrange a marriage between the businessman’s son and her own daughter.

Further, the businessman had borrowed Rs 30 lakh from the lawyer for professional purposes. When he was unable to repay the amount, the lawyer allegedly demanded that a flat in the Sus area, registered in the businessman’s name, be transferred to her.

On January 9, the lawyer reportedly called the businessman to a lodge near Pune station, where she allegedly threatened him to either leave his family or face severe consequences. The complaint states that the businessman hanged himself shortly after, with the lawyer present at the scene.

Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Chavan is leading the investigation into the case.
