Kothrud, 27th December 2023: A 49-year-old resident of Kothrud, Pune, has filed a complaint with the Kothrud police station, exposing a scam where individuals claimed to be consultants on a government bank panel.

The accused, identified as Vinod Ravindra Shendge, Akshay Vinod Shendge, Prashant Bhalchandra Bandewar, and Rohan Chandrasekhar Metkari, allegedly duped the complainant of Rs 28,22,400 under the pretext of sanctioning a loan.

The incident took place between September 2, 2022, and April 23, 2023. The complaint alleges that he suffered significant business losses during the COVID-19 lockdown and sought assistance from government schemes. Prashant Bandewar, a friend of the complainant, claimed that Vinod Shendge could secure a loan of Rs 50 crores from a bank. To explore this opportunity, he took loans from finance for his business.

Subsequently, Prashant informed complainant about a link to a government loan, stating that Vinod Shendge, a consultant on a panel in a different government bank, could facilitate it. The accused gained his trust by promising loan approval from a government bank and extorted Rs 28,22,400 online and in cash.

After the payment, when the complainant inquired about the loan, he discovered that he had been deceived. The accused allegedly avoided returning the money, subjected complainant to mental torture, and threatened expulsion from Pune. The complainant reported the fraud to the police.

A case has been registered against the accused, and authorities are currently investigating the matter.
