Pune Businessman Honeytrapped on Gay Dating App, Looted After Being Thrashed

Pune, October 14, 2020: A shocking case of robbery by inviting a person through gay dating app to meet came to light at Shivnerinagar in Kondhwa. A 35-year-old businessman was blackmailed and robbed Rs 10,000 by three accused who trapped him on the ‘Blued’– a gay dating app.

The victim registered a complaint with the police and a case of robbery has been lodged against the three accused at Kondhwa police station. The police have arrested two men and detained the juvenile, in connection with the incident.

Senior police inspector Vinayak Gaikwad, in-charge of Kondhwa police station, said that the complainant hails from Beed district. He has a transport business. On October 12, around 8 am, the complainant had logged in to the ‘Blued Gay App’. He met a man named Krishna. They chatted for a while and Krishna then called the complainant to meet him at Shivnerinagar in Kondhwa Khurd around 10 am. The complainant was then taken to the third floor of a building in the area. There he was asked to strip of his clothes. After this Krishna started taking videos and photos of him. Frightened by this, the complainant tried to leave but the accused called his two companions who were hiding. One of them threatened to kill him with iron rod while the other two beat him with their hands. The complainant was then forced to pay Rs 10,000 to the accused through his Phone Pe app. After leaving the flat, the complainant rushed to Kondhwa police station and lodged a complaint. Three accused people have been arrested in this case.

A similar incident had taken place in the Sinhagad Road area a few days back. A young man was called to meet through a gay dating app and robbed. The accused in the case was arrested by the Crime Branch.
