Pune: Cab Driver Praised For Returning Rs 2 Lakh Left Behind By Passenger

Kondhwa, 8th May 2023: A cab driver in Pune has been praised for his honesty after returning a bag of cash worth Rs 2 lakh to its owner. The owner, 23-year-old Deepak Upadhyay, had forgotten the bag in the cab while on his way to the hospital for treatment.

Upon realizing his mistake, Upadhyay reported the incident to the Kondhwa police station, Pune city police. The police then contacted the cab’s owner, who relayed the message to the driver, Annasaheb Kelkar. Kelkar, upon realizing the value of the lost bag, promptly returned it to the police station. The police appreciated his honesty and rewarded him for his good deed.

According to Police Inspector Sanjay Mogle of the Kondhwa Police Station, the incident occurred on May 3. Upadhyay had taken an Ola cab to the hospital for treatment and had brought the cash with him. However, he forgot the bag in the cab during the journey. Upon realizing his mistake, Upadhyay immediately reported the incident to the police.

After being contacted by the police, the cab’s owner, Vaijinath Gangadharkare, informed Kelkar about the lost bag. Kelkar quickly returned the bag to the police station, where he was praised for his honesty.

Police Inspector Sanjay Mogle, Sub-Inspector Ratnadeep Birajdar, and Chandrakant Misal of the Kondhwa police station all appreciated Kelkar’s honesty and rewarded him for his good deed.
