Pune: Captivating performances at ‘Sangeet Mehfil’ Organized by Prerna Music Academy
Pune, 1st September 2022: Charming performances by budding artists on the first day, followed by breath-taking performances of veteran artists across India on the second proved to be the hall-mark of ‘Sangeet Mehfil’ organized by Prerna Music Academy.
The budding artists performed various genres – classical, semi-classical, light-classical vocal, Bhajans, Abhangs and folk music, which kept audiences rapt at the Patrakar Sangh in Navi Peth as the two-day programme, held recently, began on a promising note.
The highlight of the day was the performance by flutist Anurag Joshi, who is the disciple of internationally acclaimed flute player Milind Date. Anurag, who presented the ‘Raag Bhup’ was accompanied by Kartik Swami on ‘tabla’.
The first day also witnesses performances by disciples of senior vocalist Saniya Patankar of the Jaipur- Atrauli gharana.
The second day started with a flute performance by Abhay Oak, son of noted flutist Amar Oak. Abhay presented tunes in the ‘Raag Yaman’ even as Kartik Swami accompanied him on ‘tabla’.
The next session belonged to violin player Pandit Rajas Upadhye, grandson of late violinist Pandit Balkrishna Upadhye and son of Pandit Atulkumar Upadhye. Rajas in his 35-minute performances played tunes in Raag Hansadhwani and also played in teen taal. Ashay Kulkarni accompanied him on ‘tabla’.
Then it was Pandit Iman Das from the Patiala Gharana, who displayed his mesmerizing performance. A disciple of Pandit Ajay Chakrabarty, Das presented two Bandish in ‘Raag Saraswati’ in Zumra and Zap taal. Sachin Pawagi (table) and Madhav Limaye (harmonium) accompanied him.
Shehnai player Pandit Lokesh Anand, disciple of Pandit Jasraj, then presented tunes in Raag Hemant Pahadi and was assisted by Pandit Ramdas Palsule on table.
The mini-music fest, moderated by Manjiri Choudhary-Tikka, concluded with a stunning performance by Saniya Patankar, who presented three Bandish in Raag Bhoop-Nat and various forms of Hindustani classical music.
