Pune, 1st September 2022: Never download the Any Desk software even if there are concerns about power outages and it is prompted to do so. By obtaining your bank information, cybercriminals can empty your bank account.

The Dattawadi police station of Pune city police has received a complaint from a 51-year-old man. The cyberthief called the complainant and threatened to cut off the electricity if the unpaid electricity bill was not received. The complainant’s mobile phone received a message from the accused and informed them that the electrical meter would be taken out shortly. They were prompted to download the Any Desk app.

 

Using the private account and debit card information, the thief transferred Rs three lakhs from the complainant’s bank account. When the complainant discovered that the money had been taken from the account, he filed a police report.
