Pune: Caste Scrutiny Committee Deputy Commissioner Caught Taking Rs 1.9 Lakh Bribe

Pune, 17th October 2021: The sleuths from the anti-corruption bureau (ACB), Pune unit, have caught Deputy Commissioner Nitin Chandrakant Dhage of the Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.9 lakh.

Dhage is Deputy Commissioner with the social justice department and a member of the District Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Pune.

He was caught red-handed around 10 pm near his residence in Wanowrie.

According to ACB, Dhage had allegedly demanded Rs eight lakh for doing caste verification and giving its validity certificate to the complainant’s wife. Later the amount was negotiated to Rs three lakh.

After getting the complainant, ACB laid a trap and caught Dhage while accepting the bribe amount instalment of Rs 1.9 lakh. An FIR has been registered against him at Wanowrie police station for offences under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on.
