Pune: Chakan Police Apprehend Kidnapper Who Lured Six-Year-Old With Sweets

Pune, 11th March 2023: The Chakan police station officials have apprehended a kidnapper who abducted a six-year-old boy using sweets as bait. The boy, Parakh Umesh Suryavanshi, was rescued safely after being missing for 16 days. The kidnapper, identified as Suresh alias Surya Laxman Waghmare, was put in chains following his arrest.

The boy was playing in a playground when he was lured away by the kidnapper, who offered him chocolates and biscuits. After the boy’s parents reported him missing, the Chakan police launched an investigation, checking hundreds of CCTV cameras in the area and posting photos and information on social media and posters in bus stands, railway stations, and other public places across several districts.

The breakthrough came when the police received a call from Anil Padwal, a Police Patil in Vehargaon in Maval, who recognized the boy from the posters. The police were able to locate the boy and the kidnapper, and bring the former back safely to his parents.

The Chakan police have been praised for their efforts in locating the boy and catching the kidnapper. The Assistant Police Inspector, Prasanna Jarhad, played a key role in the operation. The accused, Suresh alias Surya Laxman Waghmare, is a scrap collector.
