Pune, September 9, 2020: The officials from Chandan Nagar police station, Pune City police, have nabbed a 55-year-old man who is said to be involved in over 100 vehicle thefts. The accused used to cut the vehicles in pieces and sell them to a scrap dealer in Gujarat.
While investigating a tempo theft case, Police Naik Tushar Bhiwarkar and Constable Vikrant Saswadkar received information that a man involved in the theft is going to meet someone near Khed Shivapur toll naka. Accordingly, a trap was laid and accused Raju Baburao Javalkar, a resident of Khanapur, Sinhgad Road, was taken into custody. During interrogation, he confessed to stealing the tempo from Kharadi bypass.
With his arrest police have solved seven theft cases registered with Chandan Nagar, Khadak, Warje, Swargate, Chikhli and Hinjawadi police stations. The accused used to sell the vehicle parts to scrap dealer Dinesh Ramsingh Vasava (24) of Ankleshwar, Gujarat. The cut parts of all the vehicles were sold by the accused Vasava and cops have seized engines of those vehicles.
Additional Commissioner of Police (East region) Namdev Chavan, DCP (Zone 4) Pankaj Deshmukh and ACP (Yerwada division) Vijay Chaudhary supervised the investigation team which was led by Senior Police Inspector Shankar Khatke, Inspector (Crime) Prakash Pasalkar and Assistant Police Inspector Gajanan Jadhav. The team included Police Sub Inspector Sachin Jadhav, Head Constable Ajit Dhumal, Police Naik Tushar Bhiwarkar, Shrikant Shende, Constables Subhash Awhad, Vikrant Saswadkar, Rahul Ingle, Sandeep Yele and Atul Jadhav.
