Bavdhan, 16th June 2023: Commuters traveling from Kothrud to Bavdhan and Pashan in Pune will have to endure further inconvenience as the completion of the Chandni Chowk flyover junction is now expected to extend into August. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is currently focused on completing the pending work on the Kothrud Bavdhan overpass, which is part of the overall project.

According to Bharat Todkari, Consulting Engineer at NHAI, the progress on the Chandni Chowk flyover work has been swift, with approximately 95% of the total work completed. However, the work on the Kothrud Bavdhan overpass remains, and it is now expected to be completed between July 15th and 30th. Once this remaining work is finished, the flyover will be inaugurated and open to the public in August. The flyover will have a width of 35 meters, and the total project cost is estimated to be Rs 397.61 crores.

It is important to note that all the service roads and ramps associated with this project have already been completed. The under-construction flyover is set to be a six-lane roadway connecting the Bavdhan and Kothrud regions near NDA Chowk. Its completion will significantly reduce travel time for commuters traveling from Kothrud to Bavdhan.

The construction of the flyover was initially initiated by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and is currently being led by NHAI. Chandni Chowk, known for being a highly congested intersection in the city, witnesses a large volume of vehicles passing through it on a daily basis.
