Pune, 16th June 2023: As citizens grapple with varying weather conditions, the Meteorological Department has made contrasting predictions for different regions of Maharashtra.

On Friday, rain is expected in several districts, including Mumbai, while certain areas may experience a heat wave. The department has further anticipated the monsoon to become active in central India, encompassing Maharashtra, from June 23.

According to Krishnanand Hosalikar, Additional Director General at the Meteorological Department, a favorable environment for the onset of monsoon in central India, including Maharashtra, will likely develop by June 23.

As per the department’s forecast, regions such as Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are expected to witness rain accompanied by lightning on Friday. Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Satara, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Jalna, and Parbhani districts are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall. However, Sangli, Amravati, Solapur, Akola, Buldhana, Wardha, and Washim are predicted to remain dry, with residents enduring scorching sun.

While monsoon may enter Mumbai and Pune between June 18 and 22, the northern parts of the state, as well as Vidarbha, might have to wait a few more days, as stated by the Meteorological Department.
