Chetan Pardeshi From Chinchwad Gets National Youth Award

Chinchwad, 12th August 2021: Chetan Mahadu Pardeshi (26) of Chinchwad has been awarded the National Youth Award by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for his excellent work in the social parameters of society. The prestigious award ceremony was held today in New Delhi.

Pardeshi is a young, dynamic and dedicated social worker. He is the founder of S for Schools, an organization fostering education among the underprivileged through active participation of students and drawing efforts to bring drop out students back to school. It has brought 1940 dropouts back to school, sponsored books and stationery for 3830 students and made provisions for mobile libraries in 19 schools.

In recognition of his outstanding social services to the community, he has been awarded the National Youth Award for the year 2017-18. The award consists of a silver medal, a certificate and Rs 10 lakh as a winning amount.

Chetan is a process-oriented and proactive social worker with 9+ years of experience in community development and has worked for fostering sustainable development goals, especially Sustainable Development Goal 4 i.e. Quality Education. He has led India as a Global Youth Ambassador in the program ‘Their World’ and won several awards like Young Achievers Award by the Government of India and fellowships like LEAD Earth Fellowship by TERI and Tetra Pak, Youth Service America Fellowship for his work in road safety and many other such grants and recognitions for his work in the social sector. For his work on Innovative Approaches in solving problems like road safety, and contribution towards fostering sustainable development goals he has given a talk at TEDx Jaipur.

Since the age of 13, he has devoted his time to Community Development in diversified ways, such as working for waste management in school days. Additionally, he has been an event management professional for over five years and has good expertise in project management and campaign formations. Chetan has also interned with the Commonwealth Youth Council on a research project related to Menstrual Health and Hygiene.

Pardeshi has completed school education from Kamalnayan Bajaj high school and engineering from Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering (PCCoE).

His father Mahadu Pardeshi has retired from service while his mother Lalita Pardeshi is a homemaker. His three sisters Shivanjali, Gitanjali and Sonali, are teacher, IT engineer and doctor.

Pardeshi said, “My parents and sisters have always encouraged me and never stopped me from doing anything that I wanted to that is why I am where I am today. I draw motivation from my grassroots and I am a part of Swadhyaay Parivar of Reverted Pandurang Shastri Athavle Ji. I am happy that I am using their learnings for a good cause.”
