Pune: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti Celebration Turns Tragic As Pickup Van Collides With Container On Bypass, 35 Persons Injured
Wakad, 10th March 2023: Around 4:30 am today, a tragic accident occurred in the Tathawade area of the Bengaluru-Mumbai bypass. A container collided with a pickup van carrying people from Malhargad to Shilatane in Lonavala to celebrate Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.
The passengers were reportedly carrying Shiv Jyot from Malhargad. The collision resulted in 30 to 35 injuries, with 10 in critical condition and 20 slightly injured. The injured were transported to three different hospitals for treatment.
According to Vivek Mugalikar, the senior police inspector in charge of Wakad police station, the driver of the container and his associate have been detained. The injured are currently receiving medical attention at nearby hospitals. The incident is currently under investigation.
