Pune: Chief Minister Orders Fast-Tracking of Kunbi Maratha Certificate Issuance

Pune, 6th November 2023: The effort to locate Kunbi records, initially conducted in Marathwada, is now being expanded as a statewide mission. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed District Collectors to expedite the issuance of Kunbi Maratha caste certificates, based on recommendations by the Shinde Committee. Consequently, dedicated cells are being set up in every taluk across the district, beginning on Monday (6th).

More than twelve and a half thousand citizens who applied for Kunbi certificates within a year are receiving them following document verification. To facilitate a broader perspective and accommodate additional record submissions, a separate room is being established on the ground floor of the Collector’s office. A nodal officer has been assigned to oversee this cell.

To make the process more accessible, cells will also be established in every tehsil office, eliminating the need for rural residents to visit collectorate offices. Naib Tehsildar and Tehsildar have been directed to accept applications and process them accordingly.
