Junnar, 20th July 2023: The Pune Zilha Parishad was left grief-stricken by a distressing accident at an Anganwadi in Junnar Taluka, where a ceiling fan fell on a child, causing injuries on July 6, 2023.

 

Pune Zilla Parishad CEO Ayush Prasad expressed, “We were informed of the accident yesterday evening, and our immediate focus was on ensuring the child’s well-being and providing necessary assistance to the family.”

 

As part of their prompt response, Pune Zilha Parishad took several crucial steps:

On the request of District Health Officer, Dr. Hankare, the hospital generously reduced the bill by 50%, and a proposal for Chief Minister Relief Funds has been sent.

In accordance with the state government policy, Pune Zilha Parishad extended a compensation of Rs. 50,000 to the injured child. District Health Officer Dr. Hankare and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Woman and Child, Jamsing Girase personally handed over the cheque.

District Health Officer Dr. Hankare and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Woman and Child, visited the child’s home to express their deepest regret and inquire about their well-being.

To ensure a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident and the response, a high-level inquiry committee has been appointed. Led by Shalini Kadu, Project Director of Pune District Rural Development Authority, the committee will delve into the matter and take appropriate actions against any negligence, in line with the law.

A committee comprising the Additional Chief Executive Officer and Executive Engineers has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive audit of all infrastructure under Pune Zilha Parishad. Their objective is to implement necessary measures to prevent similar unfortunate incidents, prioritizing safety and well-being.

A child psychologist has been appointed to ensure the well-being of the child, and the Medical Officer of the Primary Healthcare Center will personally monitor the child’s complete recovery.

Over the past three years, Pune Zilha Parishad and Gram Panchayats in Pune District have made substantial investments aimed at improving Aanganwadi infrastructure. Each Aanganwadi has been guaranteed 32 types of essential facilities, leading to visible enhancements in their overall infrastructure. However, this tragic accident has undeniably cast a shadow over these efforts, leaving the Parishad deeply saddened.
