Pune: Chinchwad Gets New 20-Lakh-Litre Water Tank to Tackle Supply Issues

Pimpri Chinchwad, 8th March 2025: Responding to the long-standing demand for improved water supply in Chinchwad, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has constructed a new 20-lakh-litre water tank, which is set to benefit thousands of residents. Inaugurating the facility, MLA Shankar Jagtap emphasized the importance of planned water distribution and urged PCMC to continue strengthening the city’s water supply infrastructure to meet growing demands.
The water tank, constructed near the old Elpro Company in Chinchwad, was formally inaugurated by MLA Shankar Jagtap in the presence of senior PCMC officials, local representatives, and large number of citizens on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, MLA Jagtap said, “This newly built 20-lakh-litre water tank will help ensure a steady water supply to multiple localities in Chinchwad. PCMC officials and staff are making continuous efforts to provide better civic services, and I urge them to plan for future water needs by considering the rising population.” He also extended his best wishes to women across the city on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
As part of the event, MLA Jagtap felicitated Sadhana Thombre and Priti Kasar, junior engineers from PCMC’s water supply department, and J.D. Khandeshe, the contractor responsible for the construction of the tank, in recognition of their efforts.
With summer approaching, PCMC Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil highlighted the importance of water conservation and stated that the new water tank would improve water supply in areas such as Sudarshannagar, Tanaji Nagar, Keshavnagar, Shridhar Nagar, and parts of Chinchwad areas. He also extended his greetings to women on International Women’s Day.
