Pune, 8th March 2025: Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale has demanded that the government increase the financial assistance under the Ladki Bahin Scheme to ₹2,100 per month for women. Athawale made this statement during a press conference organized by the Republican Party of India (RPI), where he serves as the National President.

Athawale recalled that during the Maharashtra Assembly election campaign in Kolhapur, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had promised to raise the amount if his government came to power. “Now that the government is in place, this promise should be fulfilled, and women should receive ₹2,100 per month under the Ladki Bahin Scheme,” he asserted.

He further noted that while state revenue has been decreasing and expenditures are rising, implementing the scheme will not create an unbearable financial burden. “The Chief Minister will work to improve the state’s financial situation. While challenges exist, commitments made to female voters must be honored. The upcoming state budget will play a crucial role in accelerating development,” he said.

Athawale also spoke about the installation of the country’s largest statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at Indu Mill, announced by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. “The project is expected to take one and a half years to complete, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the statue in 2027,” he stated. Additionally, he announced that the Republican Party of India camp will be held in Lonavala on April 9.

Regarding the Maharashtra government’s functioning, Athawale expressed satisfaction with the work of the Shinde-Fadnavis-Pawar alliance. “The grand alliance government is functioning efficiently. Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde, and Ajit Pawar are doing commendable work. While we had hoped for a ministerial berth for our party, it did not materialize. However, we remain optimistic about future opportunities,” he added.
