Baramati, 3rd February 2026: The investigation into the aircraft crash involving senior Maharashtra political leader Ajit Pawar has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), with authorities emphasizing the need for a comprehensive and impartial probe.

Officials said transferring such cases to a specialized agency is standard procedure when high-profile individuals are involved, ensuring transparency and maintaining public trust. Senior CID officers are expected to arrive in Baramati shortly to begin a detailed examination of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The CID inquiry will explore multiple angles, including the possibility of technical malfunction, human error, and any administrative or procedural lapses. Investigators are expected to scrutinize flight records, aircraft maintenance history, air traffic communication logs, and prevailing weather conditions at the time of the crash.

In parallel, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated an independent technical investigation. The aviation regulator’s assessment will focus on flight safety and regulatory compliance, with preliminary findings likely after analysis of aircraft system data and other forensic evidence.

The incident has drawn widespread attention across the state, prompting calls from political leaders and the public for a transparent and unbiased investigation. Authorities have stressed that the exact cause of the crash will only be determined after the completion of both technical and forensic analyses.
