Pune: Citizens And Political Parties Oppose To Dehu Road Cantonment Board’s Tax Hike

Dehu, 7th January 2023: The Dehu Road Cantonment Board administration has changed the annual tax rate for the next three years and as a result, people are protesting against this significant tax increase. Additionally, political parties have urged protests against this tax hike.

In the context of increased taxation, various party organisations are protesting. Delegations from political parties are meeting the Chief Executive Officer.

The citizens continue to face financial difficulties due to COVID-19, and the area’s income levels have also decreased. Citizens are suffering due to rising inflation. Despite the increase in the number of persons in the family, the construction of new houses is not allowed by the Dehu Road Cantonment Board under the name of Red Zone. Also, no permission is given for house repairs. Families have to live with the same income. As a result of the increased burden on poor families, citizens are urging the government not to raise taxes.

Citizens are also not getting the benefits of central and state government schemes. Additionally, the administration does not carry out any actual development projects, they alleged.
