Pune: Citizens Duped of Rs 84 Lakh in Share Market Investment Scams

Pune, 31st October 2025: Cyber fraudsters have cheated multiple citizens of over ₹84 lakh in separate incidents by luring them with promises of high returns from share market investments. Police have registered multiple cases and launched investigations into the scams.

In one incident, a 66-year-old man from the Manikbag area on Sinhagad Road was cheated of ₹33.19 lakh. According to police, the fraudsters sent him a message on July 15 offering lucrative investment opportunities in the stock market.

Tempted by the promise of high profits, the complainant transferred ₹33.19 lakh through multiple transactions to the accounts provided by the fraudsters. Once the money was received, the accused stopped responding. Realizing he had been duped, the victim approached Sinhagad Road Police Station. The case is being investigated by Crime Branch Inspector Ulhas Kadam.

In another case, a young man from Wagholi was defrauded of ₹24.81 lakh through a similar investment scheme. He lodged a complaint at the Wagholi Police Station. Senior Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande is investigating.

Similarly, a 41-year-old woman from Bibwewadi was swindled out of ₹10.89 lakh by cybercriminals using the same modus operandi. A complaint has been registered at the Bibwewadi Police Station, and Crime Branch Inspector Suraj Bendre is probing the case.

In a fourth case, a young man from Kondhwa lost ₹10.98 lakh after falling for a similar share market scam. He filed a complaint at the Kondhwa Police Station, and Crime Branch Inspector Nawanath Jagtap is investigating.
