Swargate, 26th November 2025: The courage and sacrifice of the heroes of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks were remembered in Pune on Tuesday through a heartfelt tribute and a vibrant display of student creativity. Pune City Police, in association with Sewa Mitra Mandal Trust of Shukrawar Peth, organised a memorial event at Sarasbagh to honor the martyrs of the deadly attack that shook the nation on November 26, 2008.

As the police band played solemn tunes, citizens gathered in large numbers to pay their respects to the brave Maharashtra Police personnel who laid down their lives while fighting terrorists during the siege in Mumbai. Senior officers from Pune Police and representatives of the mandal were present during the ceremony.

The tribute was followed by a district-level painting competition that turned Sarasbagh into a canvas of patriotism. Students from Class 1 to 10, along with an open category for youth and adults, participated with enthusiasm, transforming their emotions into artwork depicting bravery, national unity and sacrifice.

“This event reminds our younger generation of the extraordinary courage shown by the police force,” an organiser said, adding that such initiatives help inspire a deep sense of pride and responsibility among students.

Every year, Pune Police takes the lead to organize this memorial event, ensuring that the stories of the martyrs continue to live on in public memory. Parents and teachers accompanying the students said activities like the competition not only encourage artistic expression but also help children connect with national history and values at a young age.

As the city stood together in tribute — through music, colors and reflection — Pune once again reaffirmed that the sacrifices made on 26/11 will never be forgotten.
