The road stretch between Nagarkar Talim Chowk and Umbrya Ganpati Chowk were closed for vehicular traffic. The road was decorated on the occasion. People walked and did shopping on the way till evening.

Mohol said, “The open mall on Laxmi Road got an unprecedented response from the people of Pune. Citizens enjoyed sightseeing and shopping. The concept was well supported by shopkeepers, roadside vendors and citizens.

From the suggestions and feedback of the people of Pune, we will try our best to create more pedestrian facilities in the city.

Although Pedestrian Day is a one-day event, the purpose of the event is to make pedestrians aware of their rights, repair the city’s footpaths, paint zebra crossings, repair underpasses and install CCTV systems.”
