Pune City Police Commissioner Confirms Bounty on Satish Wagh’s Life; Four Arrested
Pune, 11th December 2024: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC Yogesh Tilekar’s maternal uncle, Satish Wagh, was kidnapped and later found murdered, sparking fear and concern among Pune’s residents. Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar confirmed that the murder was motivated by past animosity, with a bounty of Rs 5 lakh placed on Wagh’s life. So far, four suspects have been arrested, including two additional accused apprehended recently.
The incident occurred two days ago when Wagh was abducted at 8 AM during his morning walk within the Hadapsar Police Station limits, along the Pune-Solapur Highway. Later that evening, his body was discovered in the Yavat Police Station jurisdiction under the Pune Rural Police Force. The high-profile nature of the case has drawn criticism of the ruling alliance in Maharashtra.
Pune Police initially arrested two suspects, Pawan Sharma and Navnath Gursale, from Wagholi. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two more suspects.
Providing updates, Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated, “Following Satish Wagh’s kidnapping, investigation teams were dispatched across Maharashtra. CCTV footage from approximately 450 locations was analyzed. This led to the arrest of two suspects, followed by two additional arrests, bringing the total to four. During interrogation, it was revealed that Wagh had a dispute with a neighbor a few days ago, resulting in a bounty of Rs 5 lakh being placed on his life. The matter is under further investigation.”
