Pune Civic Body Plans Constitution-Themed Park; Proposal Receives Administrative Approval
Pune, 14th February 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated plans to establish a Constitution-themed park aimed at promoting awareness of constitutional values, following a proposal by Deputy Mayor Parshuram Wadekar that has received in-principle approval from Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of a flowers, fruits, and vegetables exhibition at Sambhaji Garden, organised as part of the PMC’s foundation day celebrations. The event was attended by Leader of the House Ganesh Bidkar, Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, Additional Commissioners Omprakash Divte and Prithviraj Bankar, Garden Department Head Ghorpade, and other civic officials.
According to civic authorities, the proposed Constitution Park will be developed by the PMC’s Garden Department and designed as an educational space highlighting the rights, duties, and fundamental principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The initiative seeks to familiarise citizens, particularly students, with democratic ideals and the framework that governs the nation.
Deputy Mayor Wadekar expressed optimism that the project would receive unanimous backing from corporators across party lines. He also assured that adequate financial resources would be allocated for its execution.
Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram stated that a site visit would be conducted within the next two days, along with officials from the Garden Department, to identify a suitable location for the park.
Once developed, the Constitution-themed park is expected to function as both a civic learning centre and a public engagement space, reinforcing democratic awareness among residents of Pune.
