Pune: Clampdown On Street Vendors At MG Road, Authorities Hold Meeting For Guidance

Camp, 21st July 2023: In a joint operation conducted by Lashkar Police Station and Pune Cantonment Board’s Anti-Encroachment Department, action was taken against street vendors at MG Road Camp on July 19 (Wednesday). As a result of the operation, 17 handcarts belonging to cloth vendors were seized, said PCB CEO Subrat Pal.

During the operation, a meeting was held with the street vendors to discuss the legal implications of their activities and provide guidance on adhering to the law. The authorities emphasized the importance of following regulations and avoiding any encroachments that disrupt public spaces.

In addition to addressing street vending issues, the occasion also marked the observance of Anti-Drug Day. Authorities took the opportunity to raise awareness about drug abuse and its impact on crime rates in the area.
The meeting saw the participation of representatives from the Cantonment Board and 18 street vendors, where they engaged in constructive discussions about the need to maintain a harmonious and lawful environment in the community, Pal added.

With the joint efforts of the police and the Anti-Encroachment Department, the authorities aim to ensure the smooth functioning of public spaces and curb illegal activities in the MG Road Camp area. This initiative seeks to maintain order and enhance the overall well-being of the local community.
