Pune, 5th October 2022: On the occasion of 2nd October, the birth anniversary of the ‘Father of Our Nation’, Mahatma Gandhi, and India’s second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, the Dawoodi Bohra Community under the guidance of Dr Syedna Aali Qader Muffadal Saifuddin Saheb (TUS) had organized a cleanliness awareness drive in Kondhwa Area near Manish Park with the aim of taking a step towards ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’ and to make our environment and city clean and green.
The plot of the area near Manish Park, a housing society in the Kausar Baugh-Kondhwa area, has become a dumping ground for garbage and litter which results in unhygienic conditions for the residents and commuters causing health issues and dirty odors.
This road is a well-used road by commuters and is busy all day around with garbage waste lined up on all its sides and is not a pleasant site to look at. The Dawoodi Bohra Community along with the Pune city leaders of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Sainath Babar, Youth leader, Rohan Gaikwad, and the Pune Sanitary Inspector, Navnath Shelar, among others were present and contributed to this cleanliness drive.
Rohan Gaikwad, MNS Youth Leader said, ‘’This cleanliness drive is not just for one day but will be continued and carried out on the 1st Sunday of every month in all the nearby areas of Kondhwa and Nibm. We hope to spread a message among the people and inspire them to participate in more such drives and activities together.’’
A young 7-yr-old participant, Khadija said,’’We must learn to keep our surroundings clean so that we can create a healthy environment for us to live in happily.’’
Huzaifa Vasi, staying at Bramha Estate said, ‘’As Mahatma Gandhi spread the message, ‘Be the change you want to see’, we as residents keep blaming the authorities for not cleaning the roads, instead we as citizens ourselves should make it a point to not litter mindlessly as well as we should come forward and take action for this change to take place.’’
