Pune, 23rd July 2025: In yet another disturbing incident, a cockroach was allegedly found in a plate of egg bhurji at a Goodluck Café outlet located on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, raising renewed concerns over food safety and hygiene at the popular eatery chain.

According to the complainant, the incident occurred at a food plaza café branch on the expressway, where he had ordered egg bhurji and later discovered a dead cockroach in his meal. The customer has shared both photos and the bill of the order, which have since gone viral on social media, reigniting public scrutiny over the café’s hygiene standards.

This is the second major food safety issue linked to the Goodluck Café brand in recent weeks. Earlier this month, a customer at the iconic Goodluck Café on Fergusson College Road in Pune reported finding a piece of glass in a bun maska, a signature dish of the café. The incident led to widespread outrage among food lovers and loyal patrons of the decades-old establishment.

Following that complaint, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took swift action by temporarily revoking the café’s license. Authorities cited several hygiene violations and instructed the café management to address them before reopening.

Renewed Questions Over Food Safety:
While the Fergusson Road café was under review for improvements, this latest episode involving a different branch of Goodluck Café has brought the brand back into the spotlight — for the wrong reasons.

FDA officials have stated that the license for the Fergusson Road outlet will only be reinstated after compliance with sanitation norms. However, with a new incident now surfacing at another location, critics are questioning whether systemic food safety lapses exist across the brand.

Social media users and local food enthusiasts have expressed shock and disappointment, with many demanding stricter inspections and transparency from popular eateries. “Goodluck Café was always a trusted name, but now I’m not sure I’ll ever eat there again,” commented one customer on X (formerly Twitter).
