Pune: COEP to Commemorate Engineer’s Day with Prestigious ‘COEP Abhiman’ Awards
Pune, 13th September 2023: The Alumni Association of the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) is gearing up for a grand celebration of Engineer’s Day, scheduled for September 14, 2023, starting at 11:00 am in the COEP Main Auditorium. This year’s event marks the 31st consecutive year of the esteemed ‘COEP Abhiman’ Awards ceremony.
Bharat Gite, President of the Alumni Association of COEP, eagerly shared details about the upcoming event. Chandrakant Patil, the Higher and Technical Education Minister of Maharashtra State, will be the esteemed ‘Chief Guest’ at the ceremony.
Emphasizing the significance of the occasion, Gite revealed that six distinguished COEP alumni would be honored with the coveted ‘COEP Abhiman’ Award for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields. The awards will be presented by the Chief Guest, Higher Education Minister Chandrakant Patil.
The distinguished awardees for this year are:
- Arun Kudale: A Technocrat Entrepreneur, Educationist, and Social Worker.
- Ashish Achlerkar: Founder and CEO of NearU Services, US; recognized as the highest donor among COEP alumni.
- Chetan Dharia: Founder and Managing Director of ‘Anant Defence Systems Pvt Ltd.’
- Dr. Vijay Patel: An Outstanding Scientist at TD (CLAW), IFCS.
- Dr. Ravi M. Bhatkal: Managing Director, India, Element Solutions Inc & Cookson India Private Limited.
- Vivek Phansalkar, IPS: Commissioner of Police, Mumbai.
The event will also celebrate the academic excellence of B.Tech & M.Tech toppers who graduated in 2022-23, with various prizes and honors to be presented to them.
Speaking about the celebration, Achlerkar said, “Institutions like COEP have nurtured countless leaders across various professions. It is both humbling and an honor to be recognized. There is still much more to accomplish, with a lasting and profound impact to achieve, and this award serves as a genuine encouragement towards those efforts.”
