Pune: Collaboration and Excellence Highlighted at INS Shivaji’s Marine Engineering Graduation

Lonavla, 1st January 2025: 35 officers comprising 21 from the Indian Navy, four from Indian Coast Guard and international trainees from Sri Lanka, Namibia and Philippines successfully completed Marine Engineering Specialisation Course (MESC) at INS Shivaji on 30 Dec 24 . Rear Admiral Deepak Kumar Goswami, AVSM, Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyard and Refit) was Chief Guest for the Course Completion ceremony.

Inline with the theme of “Anchoring Skills in the Indian Navy”, the course was designed to equip officers with technicals skills & expertise in marine engineering while preparing them to excel in complex shipboard environment and contribute effectively towards operation and maintenance of Marine Engineering equipment.

During the ceremonial parade, awards were presented to officers excelling in various fields. Lt Hariharan K K was awarded the ‘Best All-Round Officer’ trophy. The ‘Best Sportsperson’ and ‘Best ICG Officer’ Trophies were awarded to Asst Comdt N Siranjeevi. Lt HASV Hapuarachchi of Srilankan Navy was adjudged the ‘Best International Officer Trainee’. On this occasion, 46th edition of Journal of Marine Engineering (JME) on the theme of ‘Advancement in Sustainable Marine Engineering Practices ‘ was also released by the Chief Guest.

The successful completion of the MESC underscores INS Shivaji’s commitment to producing technically proficient and globally competent marine engineers. The event not only enhances naval operational capabilities but also fosters training collaboration with friendly foreign countries.
