PCMC, 11th September 2022: A conflict had arisen between Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Ltd (MSEDCL) due to the digging up of recently built walkways that have been abandoned.

According to MSEDCL, the local authority failed to supply them with any utility space or electricity lines, therefore they were unable to repair the walkways. However, the PCMC claims that if the walkways had been dug up for civic purposes, they would have been repaired.

At the Kisan Residency in Udyognagar, next to the Chinchwad railway station, the MSEDCL recently dug up a pavement. People registered many complaints on the SARATHI app as well as the official PCMC social media account but no action was taken.

Bharat Pawar, MSEDCL’s Deputy Public Relations Officer said, “To fix the problem, the road needs to be dug up. No infrastructure for constructing an electricity network was created. No area was developed for utility needs that also allowed for walkway maintenance. The indicated cables were crossed during the cement building.”

He added, “The civic organisation must build separate lanes for energy cables.”
