Pune: Construction Of Hadapsar Railway Terminus Expected To Be Completed By 2023

Pune, April 2, 2021: The work on the railway terminus at Hadapsar will be carried out in four phases and the first phase has already begun. The goal is to finish off this work by 2023, informed Renu Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager. She also clarified that the work was delayed due to legal hurdles in land acquisition.

An online press conference was organized by the Railway to provide information on operations and revenue. The first phase of yard remodelling work at Hadapsar Terminus and Pune station is underway. The dispute over the land required for the terminus project has reached the court. It was said that some obstacles were created due to this.

The state government and people’s representatives are warning to reimpose the lockdown in Maharashtra. However, no notification has been received from the railway headquarters so far and there will be no change in the train schedule, said Sharma.

In the last year, the volume of freight in the Pune division has increased by 105 percent. This has received a huge response mainly from the automotive sector. About 1.5 lakh tonnes of goods have been transported from Pune division in the last year. Through this, the railways received an income of 18.50 crores. Last year, there were only 48 freight trains. This year the number of those trains has increased up to 102 trains, ‘said Renu Sharma.

About 539 CCTV cameras would be installed in the Pune division from Nirbhaya Fund for the safety of women passengers. Out of this 140 has been already installed at the various station under the division. Sixty cameras are installed at Pune station.
