Pune: Consumer Forum Orders Imperial Cruise Services To Refund Rs 1.65 Lakh Membership Fee, Pay Rs 28000 Compensation

Pune, 15th June 2021: The Additional District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Imperial Cruise Services Pvt Ltd, Hinjawadi, to refund the membership fee of Rs 1.65 lakh with 10% interest to a customer for deficiency in services. The consumer forum has also ordered the company to pay Rs 28,000 compensation.

Sachin Pise of Wagholi had approached the consumer forum on 22nd June 2020.

According to Pise, he had received a call from the company about a holiday package offer in January 2019. He was asked to visit their office and offered a package for which he paid Rs 1.65 lakh. He was offered a six nights and seven days package in three or four-star hotels every year for the next 10 years.

In July 2019, as he had to visit Mahabaleshwar and contacted the company. They sent him a list of hotels but they were neither three nor four-star hotels as per the package. Even after repeated reminders, the company did not respond and he had to cancel the trip.

Later Pise came to know that he has been cheated and there are many others like him. They filed a complaint with the police also. Later Pise moved the consumer forum.

The forum issued a notice to the Imperial Cruise Services Pvt Ltd but the company did not appear before it. After going through the package letter, proof of payments and email communication, the forum found a deficiency in services by the company.

The consumer forum comprising its president Jayant Deshmukh and members Anil Jawalekar and Shubhangi Dunakhe ordered the company to refund Rs 1.65 lakh with 10% interest since 22/06/2020. They also asked to pay Rs 25000 compensation for damages and Rs 3000 as litigation.
