Pune: Container Collision on Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway Leaves One Injured

Katraj, 19th July 2024: Earlier today, an accident occurred near Jambhulwadi on the Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass section of the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway in Pune. One person was injured in the incident when a container from Rajasthan was rear-ended by a container from Pune.
The accident happened around 9 AM. Fire brigades from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) rushed to the scene. The driver of the Pune container, identified as Raosaheb Pingare, was injured and trapped in his cabin. He was rescued using hydraulic spreaders, cutters, and other tools. The extraction took about twenty to thirty minutes, after which he was immediately taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The accident caused oil to spill all over the road, making the surface slippery. Soil was spread on the spill to mitigate the hazard. The police assisted in moving the large containers that were causing traffic congestion. Fire Officer Prakash Gore and his team managed the operation.
