Pune: Contractor Has Changed But Situation Is Still Same On Khadakwasla Road

Pune, 13th September 2022: The main Sinhagad road passing through Khadakwasla village along with the external road is also in a very bad condition and due to big potholes the locals along with the tourists coming to Khadakwasla Dam, Sinhagad, Panshet area have to struggle.

The Public Works Department issued a new report, and the contractor was also changed, but the plight of the citizens did not stop as the situation was still the same.

For the past four years, the work on the Sinhagad road has been going on from Nanded Phata onwards. The road work is still incomplete and there are big potholes on the main road and the bypass road in Khadakwasla village. Due to heavy rains, these potholes are turning into ponds and drivers are having a hard time due to the same.

The Public Works Department has given reasons like delaying the permission of the Forest Department and sometimes the contractor is not working, but due to this, the common people are suffering. Citizens of this area are raising the questions like Why are the officials not serious about the problems caused to the citizens?

The Chief Minister and other former and present ministers visited this area during the Ganeshotsav. Officials from the Public Works Department, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Zilla Parishad and Revenue Department were camped out to repair and construct new roads in the area. When lakhs of citizens have been suffering for years due to bad roads, no department officials have ever seen such promptness for their convenience.

“According to the demand of the citizens of Khadakwasla village, the road will be made of cement concrete only. The tender process has been completed and a new contractor has also been appointed accordingly the work will start soon. By then, the potholes will be filled,” said Bappa Bahir, Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department.
