Pune, 26th September 2025: The high-level committee investigating the deaths of a husband and wife following a liver transplant at Sahyadri Hospital in Deccan has completed its inquiry. The committee visited the hospital on Thursday to conduct a detailed examination of the treatment and surgical records, and held extended discussions late into the night. Attention is now focused on the committee’s final report.
“The high-level committee has completed its hospital visit and inquiry. The report will be submitted to the state government by the end of this month,” said Dr. Bhagwan Pawar, Deputy Director of Health Services.

The committee is chaired by Dr. Mohammed Rela, President of the International Liver Transplant Society, Chennai, and a renowned liver transplant expert. Dr. Bhagwan Pawar, Deputy Director of Health Services, serves as member secretary. Other members include Dr. Ram Prabhu, Dr. Rahul Pandit, Dr. Vasant Nagvekar, Dr. Vijay Vora, Dr. Akash Shukla, and Dr. Padmasen Ranbagle.
Earlier, on August 29, the committee convened via video conference to discuss the medical reports submitted by the hospital and finalize the inquiry framework. During its visit, the committee examined the patients’ medical and surgical records in detail.
