Pune : Couple Drowns While Trying To Save Child From Canal
Pune 18th Sept 2023: In a tragic incident reported, a woman and her husband drowned in a canal while trying to save their child who was spotted drowning after entering into the water. The incident was reported at the Mutha canal on Saturday afternoon.
According to officials, the family from Kunjirwadi area had gone to enjoy with family near the canal. One of their sons Ranjeet entered the canal to swim and suddenly started drowning. His mother Soni Kashyap noticed him drowning and without thinking anything she jumped into the canal to save him despite not knowing how to swim. After seeing both mother and child struggling, the father Ashok Kashyap also jumped into the canal to save them and managed to rescue the child.
However, the woman was still inside the water and Ashok jumped again to save her but since the flow of the water was heavy he also slept into the water in the canal and both of them drowned. The rescue team were rushed to the spot and the woman’s dead body was retrieved while the search to find the man was still on.
